On November 20th 2014, NCFRN co-hosted the first annual Robotics for Industry Workshop at the McGill Faculty Club. This one-day workshop, sponsored by NSERC and MathWorks with the support of McGill University, NCFRN and ING Robotic Aviation, focused on the current state of the art, machine learning, robot vision, visibility in international markets, and product development.

The workshop was comprised of keynote presentations by Steve Lavalle (Oculus, Facebook), Ian Glen (ING Robotic Aviation) and Jim Tung (MathWorks). MITACS, Quanser, Simlog, Jabez Technologies Clearpath Robotics, Kinova Robotics and Hydro-Québec Research Institute generously offered their input during panel discussions.

An educational as much as a networking event, the workshop was a great meeting point for companies who are interested in collectively pursuing the use and growth of robots in Canada.
